DESIRE is one of the 1st Year end-of-year-project 16mm Short Dramas from Film students at University of Westminster.
Synopsis An innocent and lonely teenage boy finds himself drawn to his mysterious classmate during a high school dance. However, Thomas' attraction has fatal repercussions and a seemingly innocent crush turns into something far more monstrous.
Our Inspiration We've got an enthusiastic and dedicated crew behind the project, all working hard to bring the film to life. The importance of presenting the genre in an innovative and entertaining way is at the forefront of Desire. We will incorporate elements of Victorian Gothic Horror into a contemporary setting through the use of the uncanny. The film will have an eerie atmosphere, being established within the opening scene. Lighting will predominantly be low-key, to establish the moody setting and both the timid and dangerous aspects of our lead character.
Casting is crucial for the characters required as we want them to come across as realistic on-screen as possible. Our portrayal of these two people will be reminiscent of Let The Right One In where obsession and companionship go hand in hand, which ultimately, drives the situation to levels of monstrosity. We will also address the differences between lust and love through our bold aesthetic choices.
