Hello. I love all things cinema and the arts. I’ve curated and programmed for a number of film festivals, community cinema and screening collectives. Organisations I’ve programmed at/with include: BFI London Film Festival, BFI Future Film Festival, Eastside Educational Trust, Deptford Cinema and Westminster Film Society.
In my main job, I’m a freelance offline film editor / assistant editor for film and work in post-production across a range of genres and mediums including independent drama, high-end short film and documentary/factual media.
In my spare time; I make films, and (of course) watch as much contemporary and classic films as possible. I’m an avid analogue-phile and regularly take my 35mm Stills or Super 8mm cameras for walks and adventures.
Cinematic / Curatorial Interests
My curatorial interests are predominantly led and informed by my continuing research and experience as a creative practitioner working within independent film. My undergraduate academic specialism and dissertation was concerned with the genre, economic and production mechanics (and cultural implications) surrounding contemporary ‘indie’ cinema and the future of the form - how (and what) will the independent film landscape look like in years to come? My master's thesis project concerns the crossover between documentary and fiction.
I enjoy a range of cinema; particularly repertory, underground, arthouse, foreign language, grassroots and revisionist filmmaking. My curatorial specialisms include American New Wave cinema, American Smart Cinema, Contemporary Non-Narrative Film and showcasing the work of students and emerging young artist filmmakers. I’m particularly interested in discovering and curating films which explore and/or utilise the application of documentary, non-narrative and no-wave storytelling and technical techniques.
I’m also an avid analogue-phile; having produced, shot, projected and curated films on Super 8mm and 16mm formats. Working in a sector so closely related to film exhibition and arts curatorship allows me to keep up-to-date with cutting-edge digital projection and audio standards, analogue formats and emerging modes of exhibition and viewership.
