Louis Holder is President of University of Westminster Film Society and has, together with Vice President Simon Diaz-Cuffin, been instrumental in reinvigorating the Society to it's current stature as a centre for on-campus film exhibition in Academic Year 2017-2018.
The Film Society; initiated in 2011 by former BA Film Student Robert Beck and succeeded by Martin Jensen (2013-2014), Tom Beale (2014-2015), Viktoria Zilinskaite (2015-2016) and Bishakha Dutta (2016-2017) provides weekly screenings for Students, Staff, Alumni and members of the public at University of Westminster's Harrow Campus. Presenting a range of Contemporary and Classic Films including Blockbusters, Indie Films, Cult Classics, Arthouse & World Cinema. Louis has led a number of initiatives this year since taking onboard The Film Society including the introduction of UOWFF; the first festival of it's kind to incorporate a wide range of Student Work from across the country - whether it be from Film Schools, Universities with Film Courses or simply Film Enthusiasts who would otherwise not have the chance to make and showcase their film as part of an educational context. The Festival, taking place on Tuesday 27th March, also accepts regular national and international submissions for a small fee and is judged by a panel of 30+ emerging filmmakers from precisely the institutions expected to submit. Film Society has also been promoting a culture of inclusion and diversity as reflected in it's eclectic programming and caters to a number of different students, providing a variety of English and Foreign Language Feature Films. University of Westminster has one of the most diverse educational intakes in the country across it's 5 campuses. You can learn more about the Society on it's official website here. |
